Will you be attending the reunion? Yes!Where are you living now? Valley Village, California
Do you have a significant other? Haven't met him yet! :)
Tell us about your family: I am the world's greatest Aunt, according to my niece, Anna, as well as Erika Alvarez's (nee Wilson's) son, Dex. Her son Teo cannot speak yet, but I am certain he will agree with his older brother!Anna is my brother, Brad's daughter. Brad attended LCHS Jr. High and the High School for his Freshman year. Brad is a Major in the Marines and currently stationed in Iraq. His family lives in New Bern, NC and I visit them as often as I can. I guarantee I will have pictures of Anna on the cruise. She will be 4 in April 2008 and is an absolutely wonderful girl. She has the same affinity for Mickey Mouse as I have! I do not plan to have children, but may become the crazy cat lady in my old age. I volunteer on the weekends with a local rescue group as an Adoption Counselor. I currently have three wonderful rescued cats. CJ (aka Cujo Jr) is the only boy and he is 7 yrs old and is a medium haired, black cat. Prada is my diva. She lives up to her name at 8 yrs of age and is a black DSH cat. Finally, Sadie, 1 yrs old, joined our family this summer. She is a black DSH cat who is still a bit shy, but such a love.
Occupation: Merchandising Rep for 'The Price is Right'
Where have you lived since graduation? Howells, NY; Bethlehem, PA (attended and graduated from Lehigh University); Irvine, CA; San Mateo, CA; San Francisco, CA (multiple neighborhoods - North Beach, Upper Tenderloin and Nob Hill); and Valley Village, CA (LA Area).
What would you consider to be your greatest accomplishment? This is hard as I do not like to brag. Two things, I guess:1. I believe strongly in the animal rescue work that I do and have been doing for the last 8 yrs. People can be very cruel when it comes to animals and it is not right.2. In Nov 2003, I donated the lower left lobe of my lung to a cousin as part of a living donor operation. My cousin, Lindsay, was diagnosed with LAM (a rare pulmonary disease) in early 2002 just before her wedding. Her brother and I were the donors and the surgery was very successful, but her disease was stronger. She died 15 days after the operation. We chose life and I learned a lot about myself as a person and a human being. I have a lot more tolerance for others and try to live each day to the fullest. Also, everyone should be an organ donor.
If you could go back and do anything differently, what would it be? I wouldn't change a thing. There is no reason to live in the past. I was such an opininated (and still am to some extent) teenage that I wouldn't listen to myself anyhow!
What is the one think you know now that you wish you knew then? What kind of amazing opportunity we had to live in the UK and to be so close to London.
What do you miss the most about LCHS? Traveling to London and the Continent on a regular basis. All my friends, even though I do keep in contact with quite a few.
What was the best part of attending school in England? Being exposed to a different culture. I did not like it a lot at the time and thought I was missing out on things in the US. I realized in college how good it was to spend my teenage years in a foreign country.
Why do you think we have such a unique bond? We all learned to adapt. Everyone knew what it was like to be the new kid in the class and our school never had just ONE new kid.
What was your favorite class? Calculus and Spanish
Who were your favorite teachers? Ms. DeYoung, Mr. Wilson & Mr. Thornton
What is your favorite memory? Worshiping the sun on any sunny day at school! Or begging to have class outside just to enjoy the day! Mr. Wilson even did that for us one day in Calculus by teaching the class about area under a curve and acres. Yes, I am still a geek!
